Practice News: BSI Quality Management System ISO 9001

The Practice is pleased to announce its recent accreditation to the BSI Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008 for the Provision of Construction Cost Consultancy Services to both public and private sector industries. The accreditation enhances the quality service delivered by the Practice for many years and compliments the standard and procedures in place to support such a service.

Recently Completed Project

Berrick Saul Building, University of York

Completed in the summer 2009, this striking and innovative building provides over 3,000 m² of flexible teaching, study and research space and achieved a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating. The building accommodates humanities research centres such as the Centre for Renaissance and Early Modern Studies and the Centre for Modern Studies, as well as the Institute for Effective Education. This Humanities and Education Research Centre was formally opened on 15 December 2009 by the Chancellor of the University, Greg Dyke, together with Lord Melvyn Bragg and Tony Cann from Bowland Charitable Trust who provided funding for the building.

Project News: Bradford Grammar School

Work has recently begun on a £4 million extension and refurbishment at Bradford Grammar School on which Rex Procter & Partners are acting as Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor. The scheme includes a new three-storey building dedicated to chemistry and social sciences on the car park of the existing Kenneth Robinson Building.

A large atrium will provide access to the science building and the Clarkson and Kenneth Robinson buildings. The Kenneth Robinson building will be refurbished to create an entire floor for biology lessons and another for physics. The library and main building to the east of the school site will be connected to the new central atrium by a glass 'learning link' corridor.

Bradford Grammar School plans 4m upgrade/

Project News: City of Bradford YMCA

A Planning Application has been submitted by City of Bradford YMCA for the alteration and extension works to be undertaken at 125 Thornton Road, Bradford, to create a centre, which will bring together a number of facilities for young people incorporating a music studio, internet café, roof top garden, a multi faith pray room, gym, dance studio, teaching information and workshop space. The centre will also include accommodation for disabled young people and international youth groups to visit for short breaks

Construction is programmed to start Summer 2010 with completion and occupation of the new centre in September 2011

Charity News: Ian Hutchinson

Congratulations to Ian Hutchinson who successfully completed the C2C bike ride towards the end of 2009 and in doing so managed to raise over £1800.00 in donations for Yorkshire Cancer Care. Despite this achievement Ian says he currently has no plans to enter the Tour de France.

Recently Completed Project

Leeds Bradford International Airport Limitid

Various schemes involving alterations to the existing forecourt arrangements together with the short and long stay parking at Leeds Bradford international Airport high standards going forward.

Installation of security bollards to the main terminal forecourt perimeter. Alterations to the existing short stay vehicle and pedestrian hardstandings with new vehicle ramps and amendments to the active barrier arrangements.

Project News: FINDEL Education

FINDEL Education, a division of stock market listed Findel, has unveiled its £10m 55,000 sq ft headquarters in Hyde in the North West.

Findel Education is the largest supplier of education and classroom products in Europe and is part of Burley-in-Wharfedale-based home shopping and educational supplies business Findel.

Rex Procter & Partners were Project Managers with the office building designed by Rone Design and built by GMI Construction.

Student Accommodation, York

Work has started on site at Grays Wharf, York to create 232 Beds student accommodation York. Rex Procter & Partners are Employer's Agent on behalf of Grays Wharf Ltd which is a JV between the previous owners of the site and S Harrison Developments Ltd based in York. Completion is anticipated in early August 2010 for occupation by York St John University students in September 2010. Architect is Crease Strickland Parkins who have kindly provided the artists impression. The project has been designed to achieve a BREEAM 'very good' rating.
